This time, I was positive it wasn't just a fluke or my memory and that the file was lost due to a problem with pCloud. I checked the website, looked in the history, recycle bin, the whole troubleshooting process and was never able to recover it or even find evidence that it had existed. When back on the Windows machine, I figured I'd copy it somewhere to be safe, but both the directory and file were gone from pCloud on the Windows side this time and the file was lost forever. I restarted pCloud and rebooted my Linux machine (which typically runs 24/7), but no directory and no file. When I again went to my Linux machine, there was no directory or file. Later, when I went back to the Windows machine, the file WAS there so I dismissed it. When I check later on my primary PC (Linux), neither the directory or file were there. I created a new folder on my Windows machine and copied a file. Then, something odd happened just a couple weeks later. I thought this was odd, but I'm usually trying to do several things at once, so I figured that maybe I'd not let the upload complete or I'd accidentally copied it elsewhere even though I was pretty sure I'd verified it. A few months ago, I backed up my email to pCloud before I wiped my computer and when I went to fetch it to restore it to the new OS, the file wasn't there. Been with pCloud for a few years and for the most part, I have been very happy. |
